Questions schools ask us

What headteachers and boards ask us before they register, answered straight — and where an answer needs a longer version, the policy page behind it is linked.

Who can see our school's data?

Only your school. Every account belongs to one school, and the filter that keeps schools apart runs in the database query itself, not in the browser — so a request can only ever come back with your own records. A class or subject teacher sees the classes and subjects assigned to them; the headteacher sees the whole school. There is no parent or learner login and no public page that shows any school's data.

The Privacy Policy lists exactly what is held, field by field.

Will the documents look like the ones we already use?

Yes. Schemes, lesson plans, notes and report cards are laid out for printing in the structure your teachers recognise — week and lesson numbers, strands, outcomes, book pages — and they export to Word, PDF or Excel, so the layout survives being submitted to a county office.

What does the assistant actually do?

It drafts teaching documents and answers CBC questions for the class, subject and term you choose. Nothing is published on its own: you review, edit and approve each draft before it becomes a school document.

Only teaching context is sent to it — never learner names or marks. AI Use spells out what leaves the server, what does not, and what to check before you rely on a draft.

Can we choose not to use the assistant?

Yes, and nothing else stops working. Everything the assistant drafts can be written by hand in the same screens; the assistant is an option in the workspace, not the way it works. The platform owner can also switch the feature off entirely.

Can staff use it on a phone?

Yes. This page, the sign-in screen and the workspace are all built for small screens, so a teacher can enter marks or open a plan from a phone in the staffroom as easily as from a desktop in the office.

Do you keep a copy of every document we make?

No. Schemes, lesson plans, mark lists and report cards are built when you ask for them, and we do not store a server-side copy of each one. The exception is the term archive a headteacher chooses to file, plus your school logo and staff signatures. That is why the Word, PDF or Excel files you download are your copies of record — keep them.

How do we start?

Fill in the Register a school form with your school and contact details. The platform owner reviews every application. Once approved, your headteacher signs in with the activation code sent to them — never a password we invented — and then adds the rest of the staff.

What happens if the school decides to leave?

Ask us to delete the school and its data, and it is a hard purge: accounts, classes, learners, exams, marks, archives and audit entries all go, and it cannot be undone. Export what you need first. The details are under retention and deletion in the Privacy Policy.

Still not sure about something?

We would rather answer the question than have you guess before registering.
